Schenectady – The Hacker Murphy law firm recently filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a former Union College student alleging that city police violated his civil rights by brutalizing and falsely arresting him at an off-campus celebration last year for the school’s hockey national championship. The civil action also contends that the victim, Broderick Shea, was repeatedly denied a phone call while being held in police custody for nearly six hours after being booked for criminal charges.
